LaKeisha Kanen is a Navy Veteran, a wife, and mother of two. Determined to reclaim her body and health, she fell in love with fitness by becoming active and health conscious after the birth of her second daughter. In 2012, she took a chance and entered an online body transformation challenge. Surprised at her top 5 placing, she continued to challenge herself and soon entered her first competitive bodybuilding competition. Soon after, in 2014, she earned her competitive pro status in women’s physique. Recently, she entered her first powerlifting contest, and set several North Carolina state records for women age 40-44.
Looking back, she wants to help other moms get “off of the couch” and back into the world so that they can set healthy examples for their children. She holds a certification in Fitness Nutrition through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and plans to seek a second bachelor’s degree in dietetics. Her favorite mantra is “No Pressure…No Diamonds” which means that one must put themselves into a position to be challenged in order to reveal the beauty and strength within.
